Haad Rin Beach – Ko Phangan

Ko Phangan – Haad Rin Beach

Haad Rin Beach is located at the south eastern corner of Ko Phangan and is known for hosting Full Moon parties every month when the moon is full.

We are actually talking about two beaches – Haad Rin Nai (Sunset beach) and Haad Rin Nok (Sunrise Beach) which is the larger and wider beach – where the famous Full Moon parties take place.

Between the two beaches (a 10-minute walk from one to another), there’s a small town with narrow alleys and various guesthouses, restaurants, shops, pubs, tattoo parlors, live music clubs, hair salons and more.

The place is crowded and lively every day of the week, as it appeals to young visitors (aged 20-30) but once a month, it becomes heavily crowded, packed full of youngsters who come here to partake in the Full Moon party.

Haad Rin Nok (Sunrise beach) in the northern part of Haad Rin is the larger, more beautiful beach of the two, but surely the busier and more crowded.

The shore line is long and wide, with soft and pleasant sand. The sea is not shallow, so it allows swimming throughout the year – it is hardly affected by the unique high/low tide conditions of the gulf of Thailand.

This beach is one of the largest in Ko Phangan and features resorts, restaurants and pubs throughout; it is active, lively and bubbly every night, with live music and foreshows. Another plus is that even though the beach features many parties – it remains relatively clean. It is also home to the famous Full Moon parties, and you can read more about them in this article => click here

Haad Rin Nok (Sunset beach) in the southern part of Haad Rin is smaller and less impressive than its northern counterpart. You’ll find here restaurants and pubs as well, but the general atmosphere is much calmer. Its advantage is that if you take a short walk, you can get to the ‘action’ and party spots, while it still allows visitors to enjoy some peace and quiet.

Conclusion: Haad Rin Beach and particularly the Sunrise Beach is one of the best shores Ko Phangan has to offer, yet the entire area is less suitable for families, but rather to younger visitors who want to enjoy the lively nightlife scene and famous Full Moon parties.
