Muang Boran Ancient City , The Ancient City is the largest open air museum in the world, which spreads over some 250 
acres. The park was constructed under the patronage of Lek Viriyaphant, who also came up with the idea of Erawan Museum.
The founder’s original idea was to create a golf course with miniatures of Thailand’s historically significant structures spread around. During his research, Viriyaphant learned that most structures were severely damaged over time, and decided to preserve the original structures (that could be saved) and bring them to the park. The structures that were beyond saving have been recreated in full size on site.
The replicas were constructed with the assistance of experts from the National Museum to ensure historical accuracy. The outstanding works include ancient structures, palaces, temples and more, including the former Grand Palace of Ayutthaya, which was destroyed in the Burmese invasion of 1767, and successfully replicated here.
The huge open air museum is a park shaped like Thailand map, where the various structures 
are situated according to their real geographical places. The museum contains over 100 structures and even a small floating market which was moved from its place and brought here. You will also find here lakes and gardens, boats and even a ship.
All the replicas and structures displayed here were recreated while paying close attention to every single feature and detail. You can visit all the structures, enter them and observe the rich Thai culture and art.
Every area and structure is accompanied by an English sign which carries an explanation. The huge park also contains shops, restaurants and cafés.
Due to the huge size of the open air museum, you cannot possibly tour the place by foot (and certainly not cover it). Therefore, you should rent a bicycle or a golf cart to get around (which you drive by yourself), or take a rail-cart which travels across the park. You can also enter the place and explore it using a private car. Upon your arrival, you’ll be given a good, detailed map of the place.
Opening hours: every day from 8 AM to 5 PM
Admission price: 400 Baht for an adult visitor, 200 baht for a child.
Arrival: The Ancient City is located in Samut Prakan near Bangkok. You can get there by taxi (a roughly 40 minutes’ ride from the center of Bangkok) or by taking the Skytrain + taxi (behold the explanation in the Erawan Museum article).
In conclusion: The Ancient City is a spectacular, highly impressive site, which will allow you up close acquaintance with Thailand, enable you to learn of its history and discover its culture in a few hours – without having to drive all across the country.
I personally recommend spending 2-4 hours in this lovely place.
